PATHWISE LEADERSHIP LAB
One Session. A Different Way of Seeing.
A focused two-hour session that gives leaders a practical, experiential understanding of Cognitive Levels and how shifts in functioning shape leadership under pressure.
For leadership teams and peer groups ready to understand why the same person can think, react, and lead very differently depending on the conditions around them.

Why This Work Matters
The same leader can function very differently under pressure.
Leaders do not operate at one fixed level all day. The same capable executive can move from thoughtful and expansive to reactive and rigid depending on stress, ambiguity, authority, and the dynamics around them.
Most leadership development focuses on behavior. Cognitive Levels gives leaders a framework for understanding why functioning shifts in the first place, and what becomes possible when they learn to recognize those shifts in themselves and others.
The Pathwise Approach
Move beyond understanding the model.
The Leadership Lab introduces Cognitive Levels, one of the foundational ideas from Pathwise Year One.
Through live instruction and experiential exercises, participants explore how different levels of functioning affect perception, decision-making, feedback, collaboration, authority, and the ability to navigate complexity. The goal is not simply to understand the model intellectually. It is to begin recognizing these shifts as they happen.
WHAT LEADERS BEGIN TO NOTICE
Awareness changes the question in the room.
Participants leave with a shared framework for recognizing when they, their colleagues, or an entire team have shifted into a different level of functioning.
01
SHIFTS IN THEMSELVES
Leaders begin recognizing when their own thinking has moved from thoughtful and expansive to reactive and rigid.
02
SHIFTS IN OTHERS
Participants become better able to recognize when a colleague or team is operating from a different level of functioning.
03
THE CONDITIONS IN THE ROOM
Teams begin considering whether the current conditions support the conversation, decision, or feedback they are trying to navigate.
THE LAB EXPERIENCE
See the shifts as they happen.
UNDERSTAND THE LEVELS
Learn a practical framework for recognizing meaningfully different levels of cognitive functioning.
EXPERIENCE THE SHIFT
See how stress, ambiguity, authority, and other conditions can move thinking and behavior up or down.
RECOGNIZE IT IN REAL LIFE
Begin noticing how these shifts affect conversations, decisions, feedback, collaboration, and leadership under pressure.
